Smith Gee Studio was tasked with opening up a large suite at century-old Cummins Station, playing off the character of the industrial building to prepare an open office call and training center for the retail and sales division of Postmates, an on-demand delivery service based on the West Coast. Housing a large number of employees in an open-office work environment required great attention to details that helped to deaden the noise in unobtrusive ways. Acoustical shelves and glass dividers over the benches and sliding barn doors outside the training room work with an all white and black aesthetic to provide a hip place for workers to commune and refresh between customer service calls and training sessions.
