Built in 1928, Old Mount Olive Baptist Church is number 5 on Pensacola’s Seven to Save list of endangered buildings. The church has sat vacant since 2004 after being damaged by Hurricane Ivan. Stahlman Hospitality engaged Smith Gee Studio to develop the design concept for the Lodging House in collaboration with local architects, Dalrymple|Sallis.
Transforming the former church into a Boutique Lodging House with Food & Beverage offerings, Smith Gee’s focus was the design for 15 guestroom suites and adjacent library gathering space creating a bespoke experience unique to the Pensacola market with luxury, forward thinking lodging offerings packed with whimsical and nostalgic curios.
Located a few blocks from Pensacola’s historic downtown district, the adaptive reuse of the former church will provide unique exclusive, creative and playful accommodations with a nod to the past.
